The Mumzels at the Petting zoo

The Mumzels have discovered a petting zoo in the woods near their nest. because the Mumzels are curious about what a petting zoo is, they go and take a look.

Do you know what a petting zoo is?

Good guess, a petting zoo is a place where farm animals live and children can play and watch the animals.

“are you coming” with the Mumzels to the petting zoo?

The first animals the mumzels encounter eats everything, likes to play football and prefers to lie in the mud all day long. they have a round nose with 2 large holes and a curly tail.

Do you know which animal is in the picture with the Mumzel?

Very clever that you know they are pigs. Did you know that pigs are also very clever?

It looks like a tasty snack passed by.

Mice are not safe for this animal, would mumzels be safe? hopefully he won’t come after the Mumzel. the Mumzel has just filled his bag with food in the feed shed. would the mummy use it to feed the animals at the petting zoo or himself?

You probably know that this is a cat. Do you know what sound a cat makes?

Miauww Miaauw Miaauww !!

The Mumzels have discovered young Nubian Goats

These goats have very long ears and they are very sweet and playful.
They want to play with the Mumzels. They have a competition to see who gets to the other side of the meadow first. Which mumzel and goat will win?

How many goats can you count? and how many Mumzels do you see?

there are indeed 4 goats and 4 Mumzels and together that is 8 animals.

Mumzels do count as animals, right?

Very stubborn

Very small but when she is in the meadow with the big one, she pretends to be the boss.

She is very sweet and you can ride her also she likes carrots and sugar cubes. Every day she wants to be brushed and a nice thick pack of hay before going to sleep.

Her name is Julia and the Mumzel tries to pet her. Julia likes that very much.

Do you think Julia is a Horse or Pony?

very good, horses are much bigger. ponies are small horses such as this shertlander breed

The Mumzels are in the mood for an egg.

There are a lot of chickens in the chicken shed. Alone outside does the Rooster walk to guard the hen house. The Mumzels try to distract the Rooster so that they can sneak in without the rooster sounding the alarm. Do you think the mumzels will manage to get into the hen house?

Do you know what color the rooster is?

well done the rooster is black and he has a red mohawk

From grass to milk

Do you ever drink milk? The Mumzels think Milk is made of Grass. Because they see this animal eating grass and when the mumzels hit the animal’s udders, Milk comes out.

You probably know that this is a cow.

But the Mumzels wonder how the cow can turn grass into milk.

Do you know how many stomachs a cow has?

very nice that you knew that a cow has 4 stomachs, because it eats plants and grass which is difficult to digest. this allows food to pass through 4 stomachs. before it comes out of the cow again like a cow pie. The cow makes milk through the mammary glands in the udders, the milk is actually for the young calves. but people drink it too .

The Mumzel is sleeping, is that okay?

They have very small legs and a very big belly. They like to sleep very much, just like the Mumzel. They grow to 60 cm high and can grow to 65 kg. They have small pointed ears and look a bit like pigs. These animals also eat everything.

Do you see the green Mumzel in the window? He is worried about the purple Mumzel. Because when the animal starts to roll over in its sleep, the purple Mumzel will be as flat as a coin

Do you know which animals the Mumzel is sleeping against?

Great, you guessed it right. they are pot-bellied pigs. have you ever petted them? their hair feels like a stiff brush.

Most beautiful animal of the petting zoo

It’s a bird, only you don’t see them often flying. What this Bird does have is a beautiful bunch of feathers. The Mumzels are startled when the Bird shows its feathers. because it is quite a spectacle , so beautiful and large . The bird can use its feathers to impress the female bird or to scare away predators or mumzels.

Do you know what kind of bird this is that the Mumzel is sitting on?

You guessed it right, the Mumzel sits on a Peacock and you can recognize it by its beautiful Feathers.

Visiting the Dwarf goats

The Mumzels are now with the goats. They have very small legs. That’s because they’re dwarf goats. They are sweet and cute and sometimes a bit stubborn. The dwarf goats also like to play with the mumzels,

The mumzels are only a lot smaller than the dwarf goats so be careful not to knock them over while playing.

Do you see how many Mumzels are playing with the Dwarf goats?

And do you also see the colors of the Mumzels

you saw that well, they are 3 mumzels, green, yellow and blue

Quack, Quack, Quack

They love swimming in the water and they can also fly bits. they are a lot smaller than geese and swans. sometimes a less beautiful swan is named after an ugly duckling. while ducks are actually not ugly at all or do you think they are?

The Mumzels like to take the ducks around on the water and with a bit of luck they will also fly together.

Ducks also like to be fed. often when they see that you are standing at the water’s edge with a bag of bread, they come flying in with a lot of ducks at the same time.

Do ducks lay eggs?

very good, ducks lay eggs, like all other birds.
from the eggs come very sweet little ducklings

Candies or Droppings

The Mumzels are with the rabbits, They are nice and soft and the Mumzels prefer to cuddle with rabbits all day long. They love carrots and have very cute long ears. You will see rabbits on every petting zoo. Many people also have a rabbit as a pet.

Because they are not big and very nice to keep. The only drawback is that they leave their droppings everywhere when they run loose.

you should not see those droppings as candies. because they don’t taste that good.

The yellow mumzel found out too late that they weren’t sweets

How many Mumzels do you count?

Do you also see what that pink Mumzel looks like?

very good, you counted correctly that there are 3 Mumzels and the Pink Mumzel indeed looks like a rabbit with those big ears

A donkey does not hit the same stone 3 times.

You can’t say that about some Mumzels. They often get themselves in trouble.

Donkeys are sweet and look a bit like Horses. They can live up to 25 to 40 years and are very strong. donkeys are often used to transport things for people. donkeys also make a very nice sound .. can you imitate that sound?

How many Mumzels do you count?

What color are the donkeys?

nice, didn’t expect you could count all 7 mumzels. donkeys are indeed brown – gray .

did you know that you can tell by the ears of a donkey whether they are happy or scared?

they then go back if donkey is not happy or stand forward if they are happy

Thank you for coming with the Mumzels to the petting zoo.

Without you the Mumzels didn’t know what animals live there. You did a great job helping the Mumzels today.

The Mumzels are now very tired from their adventure at the petting zoo and are going to sleep. Will you help the mumzels next time they go on an adventure?

They could really use your help.

See you next time

The animals live at Kinderboerderij Buiten-“Gewoon” in Velp NB (Netherlands) It is free for visitors and children can cuddle and play with animals or in the playground. This petting zoo runs entirely on volunteers who work every day to maintain the petting zoo. during the week, the petting zoo also offers employment for people with a mental disability as a daytime activity.

"Do you hear strange noises on the roof at night? Don't be afraid, it's probably the Mumzels! The Mumzels are creatures that live around us at night, searching for food and items they like to take back to their nest. They can be recognized by their big eyes and feelers on their heads, but they are not easily seen by humans as they consider us dangerous. We have all experienced waking up to an empty cookie jar or misplacing something, only to find it later. This is likely the work of Mumzels in your home. The Mumzels started as a children's book in 2012 and made their way into the NFT, crypto, and Web3 world in February 2022. In addition to their own English blog website, they are also active on social media like Twitter and various NFT communities."
