Last week, I celebrated my birthday. The night before, while watching an exciting movie on the living room couch, my kids and wife were already asleep. As night fell, the room was dark, lit only by the glow of the TV. The movie captured my attention, but suddenly, strange sounds from upstairs caught my ears.

The sounds seemed to be getting closer, and at first, I thought one of the kids had woken up. However, there was something different and eerie about these sounds. I turned up the TV volume, trying to ignore the odd noises, and tiredness eventually led me to fall asleep, unaware of what might be happening.

There I was, peacefully sleeping on the couch, already celebrating my birthday with the TV still on. Suddenly, I woke up, realizing I had to go to bed, turned off the TV, and headed upstairs. In my peripheral vision, I noticed a shadow, but fatigue caused me to ignore it.

The next morning, my kids woke me up with birthday gifts in bed. We went downstairs together, but my wife discovered a mess in the kitchen. The fridge was open, the box of my birthday cake lay on the floor, and there was cream and cake everywhere.
