January 23, 1992
Thirty years ago, one cold winter night in January,
I was sleeping in my room, suddenly awakened by strange noises. It sounded like tiny footsteps on the roof . I also heard some sort of singing in between. I convinced myself that they were birds and tried to go to sleep.
Next morning I came downstairs and said to my father did you hear those strange noises last night too papa? My father immediately said that were the Mumzels Bram.
What are the Mumzels? I asked right away. To which my father replied that they were small creatures that mainly look for food at night and walk on the roofs of houses.
Have you ever seen them Dad? I asked. “No never they are hard to catch” my father replied.
Mumzels I thought.. never heard of my father must be kidding me. I went to school and thought about it a few times that day but didn’t dare tell my friends.
What was I supposed to do with that information from my father 😅 I heard strange noises , but don’t believe in Mumzels . And my friends think I’m crazy when I mention it, it was probably just a bird.
That day I didn’t talk about it anymore and in the evening I carefully went to bed, brought a flashlight and ghostbuster toys in bed to feel safe .. because you never know what might suddenly land on your roof.
